Hey y’all, life has really gotten the best of me lately. I’ve been putting off going to the dentist for a while now because, honestly, I’m afraid of dentists, needles, and pain. Well, it finally caught up to me — I have a pretty bad root canal that needs to be addressed ASAP.
Not being able to eat very much lately has me thinking:
what are some people’s go-to meals when they’re sick?
I grew up on soup whenever I had the flu, strep, or just wasn’t feeling good. If it was something mild, I’d make a BLT. But lately, I’ve seen people online say they never eat soup when they’re sick — which totally shocked me! I thought that was just the universal comfort food lol.
So now I’m curious:
What do you eat when you don’t feel well?
Life Lately
I also wanted to post a little life update.
You might remember that I recently moved into my first home — and it’s been… an adventure.
We’re still waiting for repairs to be finished. There are holes in the walls that haven’t been fixed (it’s been over a month), but we finally have a working fridge, washer, and dryer! Our mail service is officially working again, too.
Now all we’re waiting for is those wall repairs and for internet to be installed — which should finally happen next week.
I’m so excited for that, because I’ve been waiting to launch my company until I have internet at home. It’ll make it so much easier to monitor everything properly. My first launch is completely ready, and I’ve already started designing a seasonal drop that’s getting me into the holiday spirit early.
Why I’m So Excited About This Launch ✨
I don’t want to bore everyone with too much business talk, but my work is such a big part of my life that it feels right to share.
My company is all about self-help and creating useful tools for people dealing with anxiety, depression, or stress.
One of the products I’ve loved making the most is a relaxation/activity book — filled with word searches, crosswords, coloring pages, and fun puzzles designed to help you decompress after a long day.
It’s been so rewarding to create, and I truly hope others enjoy using it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.
How It Helps with Anxiety 💆♀️
Anxiety is really just an intense form of stress. When we’re stressed, our heart rate rises and our mind starts spinning.
Doing slow, focused activities that engage your hands and mind — like coloring or word puzzles — helps redirect your focus to what’s right in front of you. As your hands move and your mind calms, your heart rate begins to settle, and the anxiety eases up.
It’s not a cure, but it’s an incredibly useful coping mechanism — one that brings your body and mind back into sync.
Why This Work Means So Much to Me ❤️
I wish I could bottle up a cure for anxiety and sell that — but the truth is, managing it takes understanding your triggers and learning how to soothe yourself through them.
For me, one of my biggest triggers is driving. I’ve been in two really bad car accidents in my life — one when I was 5 and another when I was 17.
The second one was especially scary. I had just gotten my first car and was driving to school when a truck pulled out of a gas station and T-boned me. The impact totaled my car, blew my tire, deployed my airbags, and left me with a concussion, whiplash, and a fractured spine.
The doctors told me that if I ever got hit in that same spot again, I could end up paralyzed from the waist down. That fear stayed with me for a long time — and it’s still something I actively manage.
Through exposure therapy and daily mindfulness, I’ve learned to manage that fear instead of letting it control my life. And that’s exactly what I want to help others do — find tools and routines that help them take their power back from anxiety.
Thank You for Being Here
There’s no magic cure for anxiety, but there are ways to make it quieter.
If you’ve read this far, thank you for letting me share a piece of my world with you today.
I hope something in my story helps you feel seen, comforted, or a little less alone. 💛
