Holiday Meals
Daily writing prompt
Do you or your family make any special dishes for the holidays?

Every holiday my family does something different and special as a tradition. For thanksgiving, it is common that someone makes “Pink Salad”. Pretty much just cottage cheese, strawberry Jello mix, cool whip and whatever fruits they think are needed (usually strawberries, bananas, orange slices, and pineapple. It is one of the dishes I most look forward to.

For Christmas, we always have a glass of eggnog the night before, while we open and wear our Christmas pajamas and watch The Polar Express. On Christmas morning, my mom makes cinnamon rolls and we always eat before presents.

For New Years, we don’t have any consistent food items, but we only do appetizers. Some of my favorites have been bbq beanie weanies and fruit pizza.

I love that my family has these traditions. I think tradition is something special that we look forward to every year. As I continue into my adulthood, I prioritize these traditions in my own and have started making some of my own, in hopes my future family loves tradition just as much as I do.

Such a cozy, homey feel to those traditions.
